How am I able to get through a firewall?
This depends on the policy of your network department concerning security and what kind of traffic they want.
Anarchy Online should work fine if the firewall lets you open connections from inside the firewall. If this isn’t possible, you will have to bring up this issue with the department responsible for the firewall.
The ports that need to be open are TCP ports 80, 7012, 7013, 7500-7600
What are the minimum system requirements to play Anarchy-Online:
Minimum
Windows 98/ME/2000 SP1+2/XP Pentium II 300 128MB RAM 2X CD-ROM drive DirectX 3D 8Mb video card DirectX compatible sound device 700MB free hard drive space Internet connection, 28.8K Modem
Recommended
Pentium II 450 256 Mb RAM 3D card with 32MB RAM, DirectX 8X CD-ROM drive 1GB free hard drive space Internet connection, 56K Modem
Why do I get a ‘dimension not available’ or ‘could not connect to login-handler’ error message?
The reason could be that you are playing behind a fire wall. Please see the FAQ entry about playing through a firewall.
This could also be caused by server downtime (scheduled or unscheduled), or if you have just installed from the version 11.0 disc. The dimension information has changed since 11.0, so you will have to use a manual patch from this page:

I am having crashes that give an error code in bb.dll
If you have an NVIDIA based video card, please use the newest, non-beta drivers available from http://www.nvidia.com/ . In rare cases, if your card may require special manaufactuer drivers for additional features like stereo glasses or mpeg DVD hardware support, you will need to contact the manufacturer of your video card.
The CD-ROM drive seems to be unable to read the Anarchy Online CD. Any suggestions?
We have no indication of any problems with our CD, however a scratched or damaged CD will cause problems. Please talk to the shop where you bought it about such problems. You could also try to install the CD on another computer. If it is possible to install it on other computers, this indicates that you should check your CD-ROM player. One possible solution is to turn down the read speed of your CD-ROM drive
I have problems running the game. Is there anything I could do before contacting Funcom Support?
Please try these general advice:
- Check that you have the latest version of all device drivers, like for your graphical card and sound card.
- Try to install patches for the game manually. Please download them from this address: http://www.anarchy-online.com/content/downloads/patches/
- Turn off compressed textures in the video options
I’m getting a crash in msvcrt.dll under Windows 2000. What should I do?
If you are using Windows 2000 and are experiencing crashes in msvcrt.dll (as indicated in the AnarchyCrashLog.txt file), you may be able to resolve the issue by installing the appropriate file from: http://support.microsoft.com/search/preview.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q305601&GSSNB=1
My computer locks up (freezes) when I load Anarchy Online. What can I do?
If you use an AMD Athlon VIA Chipset based motherboard, be sure to update your chipset drivers. Download the latest VIA 4-in-1 drivers from http://www.viaarena.com/
If you have an ASUS A7V motherboard – With the default version of BIOS that ships with the motherboard, v.1004C, this motherboard has been known to cause some lock up issues. Follow the instructions on the ASUS page carefully to upgrade to the latest BIOS, and install the latest VIA 4-in-1 drivers.

The installation asks me for Data3.cab, but there is no Data3.cab on the CD- what can I do?
InstallShield, the program that installs Anarchy Online, will stop with the current cab file and look for the next one when something goes wrong. This error can be caused by the disc having a substance on the underside such as glue. Another possibility is virus scanners running while installing- try disabling your virus scanner while installing.
When installing, I get the message “ERROR LOADING TYPE LIBRARY/DLL, The InstallShield Engine (iKernel.exe) could not be launched”. What could I do?
According to Installshield Knowledge Base, the problem can be fixed by doing the steps below (do one step, then run setup. If it does not work, go to next step):
If you are trying to install to a Windows 98 machine, download and run Dcom98.exe from the following site: http://www.microsoft.com/com/dcom/dcom98/download.asp
Clean out the Temp directory.
Delete the Program Files\Common Files\InstallShieldEngine folder and then rerun the setup.
Go to your “\Common Files\InstallShield\engine\6\Intel 32″ directory, where is usually your “C:\Program Files” directory, and delete the “Intel 32″ directory that contains the IKernel.exe file. Then download: http://support.installshield.com/kb/files/Q108322/IkernelSetup.exe
My client keeps connecting to the test server.
This can occur when an Internet connection is shared using Windows Internet Connection Sharing (ICS). Disabling and re-enabling the connection should correct it.
Go to Control Panel -> Network Connections. Right-click the connection and click Disable, then right-click the connection again and click Enable.
