For today’s Beta Journal, we asked our Beta Program participants to talk about the experience of playing the Burglar Class.

I chose to make a burglar, and the more I play with the character, the more I find that it fits the type of player I am perfectly.

First of all, there are the infamous conjunctions that I can start at will. These conjunctions can save lives, restore power, deal a deadly blow, or even do damage over time. So even though the burglar does not do great damage normally, being able to start conjunctions at will makes the burglar very useful in combat.

Secondly, there are tricks that I can play on my enemies. I can throw dust in their eyes to reduce their hit rate; I can make them fail to evade, block, or parry. I can pose a riddle that’s ever so confusing to stun them while they try to figure out the answer!

Lastly, there is the ability to sneak around. Sometimes I just want to explore the world and would rather not fight. Other times, I just want to find the shortest way for my group to get to the boss. I can use my sneak skills so that the enemy does not see me. I can also distract them and make them look the other way, reducing my detectability. Even if they detect me, I can dodge like it’s nobody’s business. If all else fails, I can hide in plain sight. Yes, folks, disappear in combat!

You might think that all these wonderful ways of the burglar have a long cool down time, but worry not, dear burglar wannabes, for time flies when you are busy performing tricks and posing riddles…oh, and then there is that skill that resets your cool down timer.

I enjoy taking the role of a burglar because I’m not much of a fighter, and I’m not much of a tank. I enjoy disappearing into thin air when my life is at stake, and being at my best when the fellowship needs me most.

We hope you enjoyed this week’s Beta Journal! Check back next Wednesday for more!
