lotro account safe information
February 20th, 2008 by Eva
Word ids going around of a fraudulent email that has been sent to a number of Lord of the Rings Online players, which tells the player that their account is suspected of account trading/selling, and asks the user for personal information, including their password, to “verify” the account. The LotRO launcher has a message today which reminds players of basic account security practices, and restates that Turbine will never ask players for their password.
Turbine takes the security of your game account and personal information seriously. We advise you to avoid using your Turbine account name and password for any other web accounts, forums, or site log-ins across the internet. We also recommend you change your Turbine account password regularly, which you can do by going to http://myaccount.turbine.com. Please remember that while Turbine Representatives may ask for your username, they will never ask for your password!
Should you ever feel your account has been compromised, please contact our customer support department for assistance. Thank you!
