At level 5 you gain the ability to build a kitchen. You will find kitchens useful to help your Cooking skill advance; you can use the range, water supply and even get free items and ingredients!

The kitchen contains very useful Construction opportunities. If you build on the sink hotspot you can make your very own water source. Similarly, you can build your own oven/range for all your cooking needs.

Into your drink more than cooking food? The kitchen gives the space to create a barrel, which provides an everlasting supply of your chosen drink.

Aside from these you also have the very useful larder space. When you search your larder you can take free (and everlasting) ingredients. The higher level your larder, the more items you can take.

You will also notice your shelf space: the higher the level shelves you build, the more pieces of equipment will become freely available to you.
