Final Fantasy XI guides Fisher’s Guild

Fishing is different from the other crafts because there is no synthesis involved. Instead all you need is a pole and the right bait. The key to being a great fisher is to know when and where to fish and with what. The pole, bait, and time of day have everything to do with how you progress. The places you fish determine what type of catch you pull up. So you want to be a fisher? This will tell you everything you need to know to get started.

Time of day and weather are two of the variables that can have an impact on your fishing results. The moon cycle also effects fishing, during new and full moon the fish tend to bite more. During the dawn(5:00am) and the dusk(5:00pm) fish are a lot more active and tend to be hungry. Weather such as wind on the surface of the water, clouds, and rain make catching fish easier. This dos not mean that you can not catch fish anytime, these are for the best conditions. Matching your rod and bait also effects what you catch and can keep you wasting time with something the fish do not bite. It also keeps your repair bills for broken rods to a minimum.

FIshing shops and guilds are places to buy your gear and get advice on how to fish.
