Do you get experience when you light a candle?
No, you do not gain firemaking experience for using items such as candles and lanterns as you can continually light, extinguish and re-light these objects.
Do my fires last longer if I use higher-level wood?
No, that’s completely random.
How do you recommend I increase my firemaking level?
Try burning logs that give the highest experience points available to you. This will ensure that you level up faster.
Magic logs (if you’re a member) or yew logs give the highest xp, however as magic trees are very limited around RuneScape you may want to burn yew logs - please see the Woodcutting Guide.
Remember that banking your logs before starting to train this skill saves time and doesn’t interrupt your routine. So when burning logs, stay near a bank. And be patient!
