GENERAL BOWMAN PROS AND CONS

December 21st, 2006 by Eva

+ Decent HP and MP (not too low not too high)
+ Long range - kills enemy before it touches you
+ Good Critical rate when this happens the damage is greater than any
class
+ Weapons looks cool (well to me ^-^)
+ Can snipe enemy from safe distance or platform
+ A lot of dex means can hit a lot of enemy even bosses
+ Easy and convenient (e.g. when you’re snipping just hold the attack
button and kill all the enemy on the other platform)
- Arrow bolts cost (not a problem in the future, because of Soul Arrow)
- Bad in small/tight areas
- Unstable damage
- Gets looted if you don’t get the items fast (but this game has anti
loot)
- No jump attacks or skills
- No party skills

CROSSBOWMAN VS HUNTERS MS008
——————————————————————

Hunters are generally fast than a Crossbowman in terms of attack speed
but they are weaker than Crossbowman in terms of damage. Crossbows has
a lot of knockback rate and usually stronger than bow weapons. In terms
of skills, only one difference, a Hunter has Arrow Bomb which can stun
enemies at a rate and Crossbowman has Iron Arrow which shoots straight
and pierces enemy (no stun) and has higher damage.

Arrow Bomb at level 30 (max) can stun enemy at a rate of 60% and has
130 % damage. It can shoot in angle (not just straight). Can
damage/stun up to six enemies
Iron Arrow at level 30 (max) can pierce enemy (six enemies, loses its
power every enemy it pierces) has 180% damage, only straight.

Both of this attacks are well balance but for me Iron Arrow is
powerful; with 180% damage + critical shot + final attack this skill
will own anything in its path. even if you say that it loses its power
after it pierces the enemy behind it, simply not true, because with
Critical Shot in hand, if you spam it (yes spam it! till enemy gets
owned) Iron Arrows damage keeps changing similar to when you fire
ordinary attacks, sometimes (almost all the time) you get a lot of
damage from Critical Shot.

Also when you reach the 3rd Job which is the Sniper (Ranger for Hunter)
you’ll get Ice Shot which freezes six enemies (up to 3 sec in max
level, yes it’s a long one) and you can train in a higher level area in
Ossyria (Ossyria is not just ice area there is a fire area too! It’s a
high level area so when you reach level 70 you’re in the right place).

In terms of stat distribution, Crossbowman ends up with higher
Dexterity than a Hunter thus giving Crossbowman more damage over them.
For a Hunter your strength (str) should be plus five of your level.
(e.g. your level is 35 then your str should be 40 and so on until you
reach 75 str the rest to dex) as for a crossbowman your str should
equal your level (e.g. your level is 35 then your str should be 35 and
so on until you reach 70 str and rest to dex). As you can see,
crossbowman only need up to 70 str to equip its weapon but a hunter
need up to 75 str to equip its weapon, adding more stats into dex means
more damage.

With Crossbow Booster skill your firing rate is almost same as Hunters,
though Hunter has also this skill which gives them even more speed.

For weapons, crossbows has a lot of knockback rate and usually
stronger. But bows has additional stat bonus like plus to avoid or
accuracy, ect it also has a lot of variations like the Hinkel series
(lvl70 weapon) has a lot of colors and more enemy drops it versus the
crossbowman’s Grossjaager not only it has one color (good thing its
black) but the enemy who drops it is kinda powerful so I am guessing
its expensive.

Finally, if you want pure damage but little slower then Crossbowman
owns if you want to shoot fast but smaller damage then Hunter is for
you. In a way it’s a matter of personal preference since they have
skill that looks same. Example as a Crossbowman you’ll get Iron Arrow
but if a Hunter reaches Ranger class they will have Fire Shot which is
fire based that pierces though enemies. Same goes with Hunter’s Arrow
Bomb which can immobilize an enemy and Snipers (Crossbowman’s 3rd class)
you’ll get Ice Shot which freezes enemies (but doenst go by rates not
like stun from Arrow Bomb plus freeze is longer). But to me if your
reading this I am sure you’re interested with crossbowman, I tell
you wont regret it when you get to higher level. So crossbowman all
the way!
