Guide to winning
Intro:
This is a general guide on how to beat the other players in Runescape in PKing. This is not a guide on how to PK or what strategies to use, it merely tells you how to make it so that you are better than the other players you will be fighting. And please don’t flame me about how everyone knows this, because everyone does not know this and many people ask me everyday “WHAT!?!?!?! How did you beat me im like 15 lvls higher than u ur such a noob giv me my stuf bak”
Understanding the combat system of Runescape:
OK, this is the most important thing to understand whilst trying to decide what “class” of character to create. I will brake the system into 4 easy to understand levels that are easy to understand and easy to figure, it also works for 99% of the people I know.
First off you have a attack level, no this is not your attack level its just a portion of the formula to finding your combat level that decides how high you will hit and how often you will hit that. This is the most important piece of the combat formula, it weighs the most and without it you’d be sunk…Use the formula below to find your attack level
For melee: attack + strength levels divided by three. For example if I had 50 attack and 50 strength my attack level would be 33.3.
For range or magic: range or magic level divided by 2. For example if my range was level 50 my attack level would be 25.
The next level that is crucial in understanding were combat levels come from is your defense level, and again this is not your defense level its just a portion of the formula to finding your combat level that determines what your opponent hits on you and how often they hit that. This weighs the second most, although many people choose to go without it. To find your defense level use the formula below.
For all classes: defense level divided by 4. For example if my defense, in RS, was level 40 my defense level would be 10.
The prayer level is the level that the most people decide to go without simply because it cost a lot of money and even more time. The good thing about it is it weighs the least of all the combat levels. But it also makes the biggest difference in if you will win or not, apart from the attack level. Use the formula below to find this level
For all classes: prayer level divided by 8. For example if my prayer was 43 my prayer level would be 5.3.
The last but defiantly not least level is your hit points or hp. Depending on what class you choose HP could be very important to you or just another level, either way everyone has to have it and you cant not. Use the formula below to figure this one.
For all classes: HP level divided by 5. For example if my HP was 50 my HP level would be 10.
Now all you have to do to find your combat level is add all your levels up! Then u have it.
The different classes:
Rangers: These are some of the most common people you will see while PKing and also the most feared my many. There are many different classes or ranger.
The range pure, probably the most common of all classes in RS and the most feared many people believe that the only way to combat them is to create one of your own. This class has level 1 defense and level 1 prayer maxing out their range and usually having about 10 more HP than there combat level. These classes hit extremely high extremely fast and usually kill you before you can eat or run or telly. There one weakness is they can’t take hardly any hits at all, so essentially they hit high and get hit high making most battles with range pures short. The way to kill them is with a tank or a prayer pure.
Tank rangers, I have never seen a tank ranger by my definition simply because they take too long to make and most people think they would not do very well. A true tank ranger should have only half of his combat level at max rely on attack and a ton of defense with small HP. An example would be level 54 defense, 25 range, and 20 HP that would put you at level 30. Nothing your level could even scratch you, and the higher your defiance level goes the less your hp will need to be. Even the purest of pure rangers would only have level around level 45 range and they could hardly touch you while you would max on them with 5s. Tank rangers would be spacificly for killing pures for there low attack level would lead to them loosing against anyone elce.
Prayer pure ranger, OK, this is were it gets tricky, as if it wasn’t before. Now you have to deal with prayer, now I’m gonna say this once and only once you need to have level 43 prayer or else you wont stand a chance at any level while making a Prayer Ranger. Ive only ever know one of these, but he owned so… the good thing about these guys is you can reduce all hits on you by half and it only cost about 5 combat levels! So again with a level 30 example you would have 43 prayer and 38 range with level 30 HP.
Semi-tank rangers, these guys really only exist at high levels when pure rangers have hit level 80-99 range and decide to go ahead and train defense, I mean why not? They pretty much fail in comparison to pures at the same level and really aren’t good for anything they have level 40 defense.
Another class than many people overlook is the impure ranger. This ranger has about the 5-10 less hp than his combat level and it is crucial that he have level 40 defense and level 43 prayer to be effective in PKing. The reason someone would create this type of ranger would be to experience Runscape at its fullest, there are so many quest you cant do and areas you cant go to when you have level 1 defense or level 1 prayer. Again you cant really have a good example at level 30, so a level 50 example would have level 50 range 44 hp (maximum for this level and these stats) 40 defense and 43 prayer.
Mages: The classes for ranges are prety much exactly the same for the ranger, exept for the semi-tanks.
Semi-tank mages are actually very useful in comparison to semitank rangers. They get splitbark at level 40 defense and mystic at level 20 defense which as a LOT better than the junk you get at level 1 defense. I actualy have a semi-tank mage and he can kill almost all level 70s and down at only level 54, great for dueling.
Melee:
Man there is just an unlimited number of melee classes simply because you have so much more control over how you hit, Ill try to touch on this with each class.
I am going to split the melee section into two parts, first off you have your attack and strength, then you have your defense, this will just make it easier to navigate, I think… So the way I am doing it, for a melee character you will have two half classes, one for your attack and strength combo and another for your defense level.
Attack and Strength
Balanced - So the first half class, probably the easyest to create and maybe even the most lacking, this class is just as it sounds, it doesn’t excel in either attack or strength, but they are both about equal, it has its strengths and weakness, ill add them as I think of them
Attack pure - An attack pure has higher attack then strength and that’s just about it depending on your level you can either go hard core pure being 30 or more levels or just like 10 levels if you decided to go hard core at level 30 (not level 30 combat but level 30 half combat, the rest comes in with the defense and prayer) you would have level 5 strength making your max like 4 (i think) and 50 attack with 45 hp, with a soft-core you would have 40 attack 30 strength with 30 hp. Now most of you are thinking “how can a max at 4 be good at all?” but you would hit a 4 just about every time and at a higher level you could have a dragon dagger and hit 5s with spec and it would be a 10, at an extremely low level, like 35 if your pure. and on account of the fact that i have never ever seen a hard core attack pure, only heard of ideas of creating them, i have no idea if they would be good or not…
Strength pure - Just about the same as an attack pure, only in reverse, at level 30 you would be hitting 13s with a pot (if you went the 5, 50 route) which is a little more appealing, the only thing is you would hit 0s more than not. These guys can absolutly obliterate pures. They will hardly ever miss on account of the fact that pures have 1 defense and they will hit a lot higher than others their level.
Defence and Prayer
Tank - A tank as i have said before has half of his combat relying on attack and a lot of defense, with no prayer
Pray - Must have level 43 prayer. This is also usefull in melee because you can raise your attack and strength at will.
Both lol - If you want to go for both you would have less defense but still 43 prayer.
