BEGINNING
Ok, so your new to Rs2, and you want to know the basic controls, right? Well, you’ve come to the right guide. In this guide, I will explain every part of the basic interface, including the Attack Style, Player Items, Magic, Ect.. It’s not hard to learn, and you won’t forget it, so here we go.
NOTE: Before you play, make sure you choose the right performance, cause if you have a processer under 500mghz, then choose the lower detail. If your processer is 500mghz or more, choose the higher one, or the lower one if you want, it makes no difference except the speed it goes for your computer. Except now, they had an update. Music plays ONLY on the HIGH DETAIL SETTING. If your computer is slower, then it sucks for you.
BASIC INTERFACE
PART I
The first part of the Basic Interface were going to explore, is the Attack Style. In Rs2, JAGeX put in an Attack Styles, with for mele combat, Crush, Stab, and Slash. And for Ranged, it’s Accurate(you hit more often), Rapid(you shoot faster, although I haven’t noticed a difference), and Longrange(you can shoot from a longer difference, almost across the whole screen!).
Theres different Attack bonuses for each weapon, like the 2h better Slash than most, and the Warhammer, obviously, has a huge amount of Crush, as it well, can’t really Slash or Stab, so it Crushes. And the Dagger has one of the best, if not THE best stab in the game. And obviously, the higher the weapon kind(Bronze, Black, Mith, Rune, ect), the better it’s Attack bonuses are.
The other part, is you can obviously pick which one you want. Which, you can do with just the click of your mouse in seconds.
PART II
The next part, is the stats part. In the stats, theres not anything different, except JAGeX now has pictures, instead of text. Put to see which ones they are if your not sure, just roll your mouse over the picture, and it’ll tell you what the skill is in the bottom left.
NOTE: JAGeX changed Herblaw to Herblore. Just thought I would add that in.
PART III
In the quests part, again theres nothing different, only they added something. Obviously, it’s green for quests you completed, red for the ones you haven’t blah blah blah. But, not only is there a new quest(Rune Mysteries, refer to Still Rich’s Guide), but when your in the middle of doing a quest, it turns that quest on the list, yellow. Besides that, theres nothing new.
PART IV
Now were into the inventory. Theres once again nothing different, except now theres only 28 spaces of inventory room, instead of 30. But, items you wear are no longer in your inventory, but we’ll do more on that in the next section.
Although, there is something new that came recently in the last few days. You can now drag items and re-organize your inventory, to your liking.
PART V
Well, here we are in that next section . For this, it’s the Player Items. I know, it’s probably not called this, but who cares, it should be as thats what it is, the items you have on(and the spots that you don’t). In one of those spots, you’ll probably notice it’s a ring. Thats because, you can now wear rings in Rs2! Yes thats right, rings are now no longer useless, you can now actually wear rings. Just get a ring, and click on it. There you go.
Also in this part, on the bottom it shows you your bonuses. Like your Attack bonuses(on the left), and the Defense bonuses(on the right obviously). And depending on your armor and weapon, the higher/lower they will be, as some weapons have minus for certain things.
I promised I would show you that items you wear are no longer in the Inventory, so I will. But I will have to put the Inventory picture underneath this one, so then you can tell.
PART VI
Were now into the Prayers. The Prayers aren’t too much different, but like the Inventory, it now shows pictures, not text. Theres still the same prayers though, including a new one that keeps people from attacking your monster in Multi-player combat zones. The prayer requires level 43 to be used, but make sure you only use it when theres 2 swords crossed in the bottom left. That means it’s a Multi-Player combat zone.
PART VII
Magic.
Same as the Prayers and Inventory, it now shows pictures instead of text. And like the Prayers, theres new Spells, 3 of them that are related. They all stall the person that your Maging, for 5, 10, and 15 seconds, depending on which one you use. The Spells are called(in the order from 5-15 seconds): Bind, level 20, Snare, level 50, and Entangle, level 79.
PART VIII
Were now into the friends list. This one isn’t any different, but I thought I might as well include it, as it’s part of the Basic Interface. Plus, some of you might be new to the game and not know anything about Runescape period.
To use the friends list though, just click on the smiley face in the bottom left, and your in it. To add someone, just rightclick their character and choose ‘add friend’. To add someone not nearby you, just click ‘add’ in the friends list, and type in their name.
To take someone away, do the same thing you did to add a friend, only click ignore, not add.
PART IX
Now it’s the ignore list. Same as the friends list, and the same reasons.
But, I shall explain it. To ignore someone, rightclick them and click ignore. If their not nearby, click ignore and type in their name.
PART X
In the settings, you can change alot of stuff. Including the screen brightness(Dark, Normal, Bright, Very Bright), Mouse buttons(one or two), Chat Effects, Music volume, Sound volume, and Jingle volume. So basically, everything for the performance of the game.
PART XI
This is the Player Controls. You can do everything from switching between running and walking, do emote animations, turn auto-retailiate on or off(if it’s on you’ll automatically attack a monster or person if they attack you, if it’s off than you can go on doing what you were doing). So basically, this controls everything you do without moving, or training a skill in the game. I suggest you try out the dance first .
PART XII
Now were into the Music.
In the Music, it obviously controls the Music part. You can either pick the songs yourself, or keep it on auto so it goes through the list. You start off with 1 or 2 songs, but then eventually, when you go places you unlock other pieces of Music. You can only unlock them all if your a member though, like the Waterfall one is probably for the Waterfall quest.
To pick a new piece yourself, just click on the one you want if it’s green, and wait a few seconds and it will start.
NOTE: Music is HIGH DETAIL ONLY. JAGeX made it this way, cause of more lag from the music, and faster computers can take it alot easier than slower ones.
PART XIII
The last part, is the LogOut. The only thing to this section, is so I can remind you to click this to LogOut, instead of just clicking the X in the top right. It doesn’t always save your character that way.
ENDING
We have come to the end of this guide. I am not completely done, as there will be new changes in the future as it’s only currently in the beta stages of Rs2, and I will find more information I probably missed. Please inform me on something you would like in this, and I will add it in. The best way would to PM me, or you can reply as I’ll try to check this for any replys. Goodbye, and I hope this helps you on your journey ahead, into the new territory, called Rs2.
