Where in the real life world do you live? I live in Dublin, GA.
How long have you played Star Wars Galaxies? About 17,520 hours and… oh, you mean a date? In that case, since somewhere around the middle of 2004.
What other MMOs have you played? Like a lot of other people I’ve met in game, Star Wars Galaxies was my first MMO. I’ve tried out several others since (Guild Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean, Lord of the Rings Online), but what can I say? They just weren’t SWG.
What type of work do you do? I substitute teach during the school year (Jack Black in “School of Rock” is my role model), and this past summer I worked as a councilor/financial literacy teacher at a high school summer learning program.
How long is your typical gaming session when playing Star Wars Galaxies? It’s always different. Probably about an hour on average, though I do that several times throughout the day, for longer or shorter depending on what’s going on.
What does a typical Star Wars Galaxies day consist of for you? My first 10 minutes or so after logging in are spent reading and replying to mail, and tending to other guild related things. After thats taken care of, I’ve recently been doing alot of traveling around to different planets and POIs testing out the new difficulty of NPCs, and I’m very pleased to say that there are quite a few things I *can’t* solo anymore.
What was the race and profession of your very first character? My first character was a human bounty hunter and I still play him today, though I’ve transferred him to Chilastra to keep him and my Jedi together.
What got you into gaming and what sort of games do you like the most? I’ve always loved video games, so I don’t think there was necessarily a defining moment for me. But I’d have to say my favorite type of game would be RPGs, because I love the aspect of taking on the role of a character and then seeing that character grow into something much more than what they started as… unless I’m at a LAN party with friends, in which case all we play are FPS. :p
What other hobbies or activities do you take part in, other then playing Star Wars Galaxies? I love to read and play the guitar, but other than that, I’m mainly going places and doing this with my friends.
What is your highest level character in Star Wars Galaxies? Both of the characters I play are CL 90.
What race and profession is your main character? I probably play my Jedi the most, and he is a human.
What do you like the most about the profession you have chosen for your main character? My favorite thing about the Jedi profession is its role-playing potential. As far as Star Wars lore is concerned, Jedi is really a religion rather than a profession, and as such it has a lot of depth to explore and have fun with, especially the light/dark aspect of the Force.
What is your favorite player owned ship? As far as looks go, I’d have to say the Firespray. But if we’re talking maneuverability, I’d go with the JSF.
What is your favorite ground vehicle? Jetpack!(though thats not technically “ground”, is it?)
How did you choose your main character’s name? I wish I had some detailed story, but it was really just something I came up with staring at the character creation screen 3 years ago. :p
What is your favorite NPC? That little R2 unit that is always working on the terminal in every starport. As far as I know, he hasn’t taken a day off in over 3 years, even though he doesn’t seem to be making any progress. That’s what I call dedication!
Which NPC do you like the least? The Profession Counsellor.
Do you have an item you no longer use but keep around for nostalgic reasons? If so what is it and why do you keep it? The Force Crystal that the old man gave you when you became Force sensitive. It doesn’t do anything anymore, but I’m sure that as soon as I delete it the devs will turn it into some kind of insane buff item or something, so it’s still taking up room in my inventory. :p
What do you like best about Star Wars Galaxies? In a word: freedom. SWG offers you the opportunity to explore the Star Wars universe, and to do it by your rules instead of being forced down a certain gameplay path that the designers made for you. The one other game series that comes close to this experience is Knights of the Old Republic, but even that limits your experience to the Jedi side of things, and there is still a definite storyline dictacting everything you do. SWG really really puts you in the driver’s seat and lets you decide where you want to go, wich is nothing short of an amazing experience.
What do you get out of playing Star Wars Galaxies? This game is such a great outlet for anyone who has a creative streak, and I’ve enjoyed the opportunity to see mine and other people’s ideas become a reality (and then take on a life of their own) in SWG.
Describe your best experience playing Star Wars Galaxies. I’ve had so many great experiences over the years, from unlocking Jedi to crafting my first piece of Mandalorian armor, and other “epic” things like that. But I’d have to say that the *best* experience I’ve had in SWG has been being involved in forming DoP, and then seeing it grow into something much more than just a guild; a true Jedi Order.
Do you run or work for a Star Wars Galaxies Fan Site? I’m afraid not. :p
