Player Spotlight

Forum handle: EasterDurni
Main Character name: Easter Durni
Server: Sunrunner
Player Association: Order Imperia (ORDER). (I also want to give a nod to my first guild on Sunrunner, SOAL; I’m still friends with these guys, but I suspect some of them may sympathize with the insurgents, and I preferred to be in a group of Palpatine loyalists as I find that to be a more nurturing environment for my Inner Sith.)
Where in the real life world do you live? San Francisco, California
How long have you played Star Wars Galaxies? I have played since March of 2004.
What other MMOs have you played? Sims Online was my first, but then my fellow Sims started leaving to play Star Wars Galaxies due to the vastly superior character creation and clothes/decorating options. So I did too, Besides, I wanted a game with fighting.
What type of work do you do? Human-cyborg relations (aka dealing with computer issues) in a law firm.
How long is your typical gaming session when playing Star Wars Galaxies? Anywhere from one to twelve hours, depending on what’s shaking.
What does a typical Star Wars Galaxies day consist of for you? “Typical” for me equals constantly changing according to what the people around me are into at the moment. Therefore, I might be participating in PvP combat, role-playing, helping someone level, or adjusting the decorations in the Ithorian House of Pancakes (a diner featuring Ithorian home-style cooking, complete with karaoke bar). I also like new things, so if there are any recently added features, I try to be among the first to check them out.
What was the race and profession of your very first character? My first character was a Wookiee scout who was eventually going to be a creature handler/musician, as in musically soothing savage beasts. She still exists and is now a master entertainer. I still remember the dumb grin I got on my face watching her swim across a river for the first time.
What got you into gaming and what sort of games do you like the most? I have been enthusiastically playing video games ever since Pong. Some of the ones that particularly attracted my attention were: QBert, Tempest, Atari Adventure (I was so stoked when I found the easter egg in the castle), Neuromancer (my first PC game), Zelda, Tetris, Castle Wolfenstein, Warcraft (the first one), Tomb Raider, Heroes of Might and Magic, Daggerfall, Civilization, Roller Coaster Tycoon, Tomb Raider, Diablo and The Sims. I still play Sims 2; I like to relax by building strange sim structures. I am currently playing the first KOTOR (Knights of the Old Republic) after hearing many good things about it from fellow players (I cannot seem to drag myself away from the pazaak tables, though). I will play any genre game, as long as it’s a good game, but my favorites have always involved either strategy or creativity. A lot of my interest in MMOs comes from my sweetie, who used to do a lot of live action and tabletop role-play. He helped me remember that social interaction is why games exist in the first place.
What other hobbies or activities do you take part in, other then playing Star Wars Galaxies? I freelance write and play/produce music. Admittedly, I have not done a whole lot of either of these things since I decided to take a break and kick back while immersing myself in MMOs, but eventually I will get back to them.
What is your highest level Character in Star Wars Galaxies? I have combat level 90 characters in each profession. Four of them are on Sunrunner (my Jedi, spy, commando, and medic). I also have two master traders and two master entertainers.
What race and profession is your main character? Easter Durni is a pink Twi’lek with yellow flowers on her lekku, as I thought that looked especially sinister.
What do you like the most about the profession you have chosen for your main character? When I first decided to play a Jedi, I went looking for a server to call home. I wanted to take my time and treat it like a long-term quest, while learning from the encounters and people I met along the way. So Easter Durni, Dark Durni of the Sith, has spent a couple of years interacting with hundreds of other players, making friends, enemies, and having experiences that are now inextricably tied to her identity. In contrast, my other combat toons are just doing their jobs.
What faction is your main character? Why are you asking? You are not some insurgent sympathizer are you? Easter Durni began life as a rebel and went all the way through the Rebel theme park. Then I had an exciting day trying to survive a trip across Corellia, as I was a noob that just discovered being overt. I was actually on Darth Vader’s side the whole time and I was only spying on the rebels so I could see all their game content before going over to the dark side and getting my very own AT-ST and stormtrooper armor. If you do not start out on the light side, there is no exciting dramatic moment when you cave-in to the forces of naughtiness. I suppose I could’ve been Easter Durni, Nice Jedi of Happiness, Love, and Ewok Snuggling rather than Easter Durni, Dark Durni of the Sith, but eww, just eww…
What is your favorite player owned ship? I spend most of my flight time in my yellow and pink Firespray named Duck Season.
What is your favorite ground vehicle? The two-seater lava skiff that you get from Lord Vartonis is my favorite. All my combat characters have them, which makes me sad sometimes because I would love to pay another visit to him.
How did you choose your main character’s name? My pet rabbit, Varmint, influences many of my actions. I can tell he is wise in the ways of the force by the way he gnaws on the Star Wars DVD boxes when I leave them on the floor. Rabbits inspire so many of my handles and Easter Durni was created right around Easter.
Which professions in Star Wars Galaxies have you NOT played? Munitions trader is the only profession I have not played.
What is your favorite expansion? Trials of Obi-Wan is my favorite expansion, I am fond of lava.
What is your favorite planet? Yavin is my favorite planet, especially the beaches.
What is your favorite NPC? Seeing Lord Vader land in his shuttle in Bestine or Theed always makes my day.
Which expansion do you like the least? Rage of the Wookiees, since I am always getting stuck there.
Which planet do you like the least? Dantooine is my least favorite. I had a dysfunctional in-game marriage there, and I was part of the Imperial Piket Eradication Squad– spending many hours thinning the herds. Fortunately, Emperor Palpatine approved my transfer to Rori where the atmosphere is much better for keeping my lekku from getting all wrinkly.
Which NPC do you like the least? Paemos, and I am glad to see he has been demoted to driving the supply shuttle for the officers. Understand this experience, pal, and get to work!
What is the most credits you have ever spent on purchasing a single item for one of your characters? The most credits I have ever spent was 25 million on a Lucky Despot Wreckage painting when they were extremely rare and had to be smuggled in from other galaxies.
Do you have an item you no longer use but keep around for nostalgic reasons? If so what is it and why do you keep it? Oh, I have a few items I keep around for nostalgic reasons. The main one is a large generic house that is mostly full of clothes I made the day before Easter dropped tailor and took up bounty hunting. You can never have too many cute outfits. I also have my original maroj melon — you never know when you might get hungry.
What do you like best about Star Wars Galaxies? What I like best about SWG is the experience I get with other players.
What do you get out of playing Star Wars Galaxies? I get inspiration. The kind of inspiration that comes from being able to share the same dream with all types of minds, in an alien galaxy far, far, away from my normal habitat– a place where everybody likes computers, games, and Star Wars (three of my favorite things).
Describe your best experience playing Star Wars Galaxies? The best was when I was hanging around in the village of Aurilia during phase 4, hunting Sith Shadows with whomever else showed up. I ended up in a group of people I liked so much that I joined their guild and I am still in the guild with those guys today. I think we got all the Sith Shadows too. We have not seen one for ages.
Do you run or work for a Star Wars Galaxies Fan Site? Nope, but Order Imperia has a guild portal site here.
