After that, all you have to do is make your decisions and answer her questions to suit your needs.
What happens when I respec my character?
When you “respec”, you will choose a new profession and your character will inherit all the skills and abilities for the new profession you have chosen.
The respec starts after you have spoken with the character. A profession window will open up so that you can select your new profession. It looks like this:

Understanding profession switching between combat and non-combat professions.
When you are considering a change to your character’s profession, here are some additional tips on understanding the difference between the 7 main combat professions, the entertainer profession and the trader profession.
- When you change professions between any of the seven main combat professions, entertainer, or trader, you will start your new profession at level 5.
- If you return to your original profession after changing, your character will have whatever level you earned when you switched out of the profession.
- If you switch between the seven main combat professions, the level you earned in your old profession will be the level you start at in your new profession.
For example: a level 60 bounty hunter would respec to a level 60 spy.
If the level 60 bounty hunter changed to a trader or an entertainer, they would start their new profession at level 5.
If the same player switched back to the spy profession (or any other combat profession), they would convert over at whatever level was earned at the time of the respec. In our example, it would be level 60.
Entertainer Respec
- If you change your profession from entertainer to any other profession (including trader), you will begin the profession at level 5.
- If you change your profession back to entertainer, your entertainer will be whatever level was achieved when you switched out of the entertainer profession.
Trader Respec
- If you change your profession from trader to any other profession (including entertainer), you will begin the profession at level 5.
- If you change your profession from one of the four types of trader professions to a different trader profession, you will start your new trader at whatever level your previous trader was.
The four types of trader professions are:
-
-
- Domestic Goods Trader (Chef and Tailor)
- Engineering Trader (Artisan and Droid Engineer)
- Munitions Trader (Armorsmith and Weaponsmith)
- Structures Trader (Architecture and Shipwright)
-
- If you change your profession back to entertainer, your entertainer will be whatever level was achieved when you switched out of the entertainer profession.
Note: If you have changed your character’s profession prior to Chapter 5, you may experience a difference of up to 4 skill boxes as a result of the change in profession.
Any time you change your character’s profession after that point, your character should be whatever level you had earned when you changed out of the profession.
