RF online Combat

In the frantic world of RF Online, death is something that can and will happen to any player. During Player vs Player (PvP) combat, upon dying to another player you will lose Contribution Points (CPt). CPt is used to attain your overall rank among the players of RF Online, depending on your level and CP Rating decides what rank you will be; how much you lose to that player is decided by level and CP differences between yourself and the person that killed you.
In Player vs Environment combat (PvE) players who are above level 8 can lose experience (exp) upon dying. This loss is random and sometimes if you’re lucky you won’t lose anything when you die. However there is a chance you may lose up to 20% of your current level.
Please note that you cannot de-level in RF Online, the lowest your exp will go upon losing exp after a death is back to 0.00%.
The Battle Mode system within RF Online decides whether you are able to teleport out of combat or exit the game. While you are actively in combat the level indicator in the top left corner of your screen will show as red, additionally once you have left combat for more than 15 seconds if you have engaged your foe. However if you have not engaged them and have been attacked and then not attacked back you will be able to teleport 10 seconds after you have stopped being attacked by your opponent.
There is more to defense than just the strength of your armor; there is also the durability of your armor that must be taken into account while engaging in combat. While there is no true “durability” in the strict definition of the term, the Defense Gauge is a measure of a “temporary” durability of your armor.
As long as you are taking damage from monsters, not only do you lose HP, but your Defense Gauge will drop as well. This is hard to notice when you are only engaged with one monster, but the effects will be eminent when large groups of monsters (or enemy players) are pounding on you at once. The lower your Defense Gauge is, the more damage you will take.
Your Defense Gauge is directly affected by your Average Defense Rating, which is a measure of your armor’s quality and durability.
The Stages of the Defense Gauge
The Defense Gauge is displayed in the top-left corner of the screen. It is divided into three stages: stable, caution, and danger.

The “stable” stage
This stage represents the condition that exhibits 100% of the defense power of your armor, including all talic upgrades. It is indicated in blue color.

The “caution” stage
When constant damage is being inflicted upon you, the stable stage will eventually drop down to the caution stage. This is the point where your armor’s increased defense power from talic upgrades begins to lose its effect.

The “danger” stage
After enough damage has been received in the caution stage, your armor will completely break into the danger stage and lose all upgraded talic effects.
The Properties of the Defense Gauge
The Defense Gauge has the following properties:
- It will recover automatically after a fixed period of time, and the reduced armor defense is also reversed.
- The Defense Gauge only affects the increased armor defense as a result of talic upgrades and does not affect the base defense power of the armor.
- The Defense Gauge affects improved defense as a result of talic upgrades only, and the increase in defense power as a result of buffs and/or accessories have nothing to do with the Defense Gauge.
