Mining is one of the main sources of income in RF Online. To mine, you will first need to purchase a “mining tool” from any Ore Refiner merchant. Along with that, you will need to purchase a battery. Batteries come in three sizes – small, medium, and large. They last 30 minutes, 1 hour, or two hours respectively.

Once you have the above items, run to the Crag Mining Area and equip your mining tool. A mining window will pop up, displaying the different types of ore you can mine. There is no difference between any of the ore types, unless you plan on crafting equipment. In that case:

Blue Ore

Used to make Staff weapons and Pants (armor)

Red Ore

Used to make Firearms and Headpiece (armor)

Yellow Ore

Used to make Shields, Launchers, and Upper (armor)

Green Ore

Used to make Bows, Throw Knives, and Gloves (armor)

Black Ore

Used to make close-range Weapons and Shoes (armor)

Ore

After you have selected the ore you wish to mine, click on the “mode” button in the mining window and start digging. Ores mined are automatically deposited in your inventory, and you will get a system message stating so.

Ore can be sold for money to any NPC vendor or be refined with the Ore Refiner merchant. If you choose to refine the ore, talk to the Ore Refiner and select “process”. Now just drag your stack of ores into the processing window and click the “process” button. Note that refining ore will cost a hefty fee, displayed in the processing window. The fee is also affected by your tax rate, just like purchasing anything else in the game.

By refining ore, you can use it to craft equipment. You also have a fair chance of getting gems, talics, or jades after the refining process is complete. After the ore is processed, drag the refined ore and any gems/talics into your inventory and close the ore processing window.
