Please note this is a ‘Dangerous’ minigame. If you die during this minigame, you will lose your items.

Introduction

A group of Villagers wishes to leave Burgh de Rott and escape to Misthalin via the Temple of Saradomin also known as Paterdomus. The three routes leading to the Temple consist of various adventures, challenges and puzzles. Only the brave shall walk through these routes to help the villagers reach their destination. Will you help guide these villagers through to the Temple of Saradomin?

Getting to the Temple is no easy task. With a choice of three routes from easy to hard and six different people to choose from, varying from the weak to the strong, which route will you take to get to the Temple?

Route

To begin your journey to the Burgh de Rott Temple Trek, you must be able to pass into Morytania and hence must have completed the Priest In Peril quest. When you have done this quest you can access Morytania which includes the town of Canifis from where you can take the route to get to Burgh de Rott.

When you are ready to leave, head west out of Canifis and then south west until you reach the Mushroom patch. From this patch you should see a gate, which you can pass through if you have completed or started the Nature Spirit quest.

From here it is highly recommended you set ‘Run’ to ‘On’ and run as fast as possible all the way south until you reach a wooden bridge. Running is recommended as Mort Myre is plagued by Ghasts, which are known to rot food and you will need your supplies for the fight!

From the bottom of the Myre, follow the winding path along towards the town of Mort’ton and head south towards Burgh de Rott.

Requirements

There are no skill requirements, but the following quests are required:
Priest In Peril, Nature Spirit, In Search Of The Myreque and In Aid of the Myreque.

Recommended Items

Important: Please note that there is a risk of death so you should only bring items/weapons that you are willing to lose.

The routes to the Temple can be quite dangerous with some tough enemies to fight on the way, so why not take some good armour and fill your inventory with good food?

The following items are recommended along with the good armour and food to help overcome the challenges:

[image] rod of Ivandis - For fighting and destroying Vampyres
[image] A blessed silver sickle - Blessed by the Nature Spirit, this will be very useful if you come across Ghasts.
[image] A Druid pouch - Vital in fighting Ghasts, you will need a filled druid pouch to make the Ghasts visible and hence attackable. If your pouch does not contain items, use a blessed silver sickle to cast ‘bloom’ and harvest some nearby resources.

Ghasts are spread from the swamps of Mort Myre to the routes of Burgh de Rott. Ensure that you have completed the Nature Spirit quest in order to use the druid pouch.

The Villagers

The range of villagers you can escort to the Temple are as follows:

[image] Rolayne Twickit

Rolayne is a lonely old man and is quite hard to accompany but will help you get the greatest reward. Rolayne can try to defend himself but he is not really able to fight much and you will need to keep a close eye on him, and stick together on the route to the temple.
This is where the food comes in handy. If Rolayne is taking heavy damage you can give him food to restore some of his health.

[image] Smiddi Ryak

A child named Smiddi Ryak is also very hard to accompany, but again can also lead to the greatest reward. She will not be able to fight any attacking monsters and will try to stick with you in the best possible way.
Some food along the way is necessary because she has a low hitpoints level. It will be best to have a plan before hand.

[image] Jayene Kliyn

Jayene is a medium level villager to accompany and will help you get one of the medium rewards. She is reasonably tough and can take some hits. She can also try to defend herself and try to fight off other monsters within the event area.
Although she will not be a problem on the easy route you still may want to consider some food just in case she takes heavy damage.

[image] Valantay Eppel

Valantay is a medium level villager to accompany and will help you get one of the medium rewards. He is quite tough and can damage some monsters. He can also try to defend himself and try to fight off other monsters within the event area.
For the hard route it will be wise to carry some food with some heavy armour to defend yourself and Valantay.

[image] Dalcian Fang

Dalcian is an easier villager to accompany but will only offer you the chance to get low rewards. Dalcian is tough and can potentially fight other monsters. He will offer help in fighting in events and will try to defend himself as much as possible.
With the hard route however, it will still be tough against some of the bigger monsters like the snails and snakes.

[image] Fyiona Fray

Fyiona Fray is an easier villager to accompany but will only offer you the chance to get low rewards. She is tough and can potentially fight other monsters. She will offer help in fighting in events and will try to defend herself as much as possible.
With the hard route however, it will still be tough against some of the bigger monsters like the snails and snakes

The Routes to Paterdomus

Once you have decided on the villager you are going to guide, you will be taken to a screen where you will have to choose the route you wish to take to the Temple. During the trek to the Temple, you may experience a selection of events. These events should prove exciting and rewarding. You will have a choice of three routes:

Route 1: Easy This is the slowest route but poses the least danger as it zig zags through Mort Myre and allows plenty of chances to evade events if they happen. If you experience an event along this route, you can attempt to evade it by reaching the “evade event point” and still go on to complete the trek and get a reward. This route is designed for low-mid level players with a reasonable combat level.

The following are your menus in the event, you will find these by right-clicking the leaves on the ground at certain places on the edge of an event area.

[image] The Continue menu option can only be used once you have completed the given event. This could be solving a puzzle or killing all enemies. [image] The Escape menu option can be used to escape an event at any point. Escaping will forfeit any rewards and you will appear in the relevant area of Morytania. [image] The Evade menu option can be used to evade from an event and continue with the trek.*

*This is possible at any point on the Easy route. However, this will increase your chances of getting an event again. In order to evade from the Medium route you will need to have completed 50% of the event. You cannot Evade from the harder route and must complete the event or use the “Escape” option.

Note: You cannot evade during a Puzzle event on any route.

[image] When you have selected your route, you will see the player icons (pictured left) move around on your route. At any point you may get an ‘!’ appear. Prepare yourself as this means you are about to enter an event. There are 3 types of event, Aggressive, Obstacle and Gift giver. You will need to complete the event to continue trekking and get to your reward.

Aggressive Events

Ghasts
[image]
Ghasts are well known for inhabiting Mort Myre. To complete this event you will need to kill all ghasts in the given area. To do this, use a filled druid pouch with the ghast to make it visible, then kill it. If you have a blessed silver sickle, but an empty druid pouch, locate some logs and cast bloom to fill your pouch. If you are unable to fight the Ghasts, you will need to escape the event.
Shades
[image]
You will only be attacked by Shades if you get an event in Mort’ton. Shades can be very tough and hit hard if not prepared, they will try to swarm your companion, so you must try to take the focus off of them if they are to survive.

Gadderanks, being afraid of shades, had a special weapon constructed to give him an advantage against these beasts.

Vampyre Juvinates
[image]
As you have learnt in In Aid of the Myreque you need a silver weapon to fight Vampyres. To kill or even hit Vampyres, you should use the Rod of Ivandis. Attack with this, or a sickle until the Vampyre is at half health. When you are at this stage, use the staff’s special attack to hold the Vampyre. While the Vampyre is suspended, quickly use some Guthix Balance on him. Doing so will either kill him, Cure him (and get rewarded) or get him angry and stronger!
Giant Snake
[image]
Giant snakes should by no means be underestimated. If they are allowed to attack together, they can inflict massive damage. It may be advised evade them, however you may find your reward greater if you take them on. If they are killed, a knife may be used to obtain snakehide, which can be used to craft Snakeskin Armour.
Giant Snail
[image]
Bigger by far than your average Myre snail, these snails are powerful ranged attack users. You must work hard and quickly if you are to defend your adventurer in this event. As with the giant snakes, you may find your reward greater for overcoming the challenge of the giant snails.

If travelling on the hard route, you may receive an event during the boat trip. Stories tell of a giant tentacle monster which must be killed if any further trekking efforts are to be made. The stories say that the beast has mystical powers of regeneration, so it may be more than a match for your average fighter.

Obstacle Events

The Bog

[image] Mort Myre is a marshland after all, so don’t be surprised if you come across a bog. Although seemingly impossible to cross, you will find that with the tools of the myre, it is possible. If you brought any bladed weapon or a knife with you, use it on a nearby spiked bush.

You will get 3 spiny sticks from doing this. Use your stick with a section of the bog to see if the ground is firm enough to cross (you may lose a stick randomly in the bog). When you have tested the bog with your stick, cross onto the firm section and continue testing the next part until you make it all the way across.

[image][image][image]

River pass

You may come across a river pass which gives no clues of how to cross. However, with a little ingenuity and investigation, you may find tendrils of ideas forming, which allow you to swing your way to freedom.

The Broken Bridge

A broken bridge can be a pain, but with a mind as sharp as an axe it’s easy to see the woods for the trees and fix your way to freedom.

Abidor Crank

[image] Some events may not be dangerous or puzzling. You may randomly find that a good samaritan will be strolling the myre and offer to help you. He will not only heal you, but turn any rotten food (from ghast encounters) into stew!

Rewards

[image] [image] [image]

If you manage to make it all the way from Burgh De Rott to the Temple on the Salve, the Character you have guided will present you with a reward scroll.

Please note: If you make it to the temple without encountering an event, you will only receive a token amount of the reward when handing in the reward scroll at the Burgh de Rott bank. This reward maybe smaller than the amounts shown in the table below.

There are 3 scrolls, Blue, Yellow and Red, the one you receive is based upon which character you took on which route, and how you handled any events you encountered. You can only have one scroll at a time. If you head to the Burgh de Rott bank, you can cash in this scroll for your reward.

You can receive the following items, again the amount you receive is dependant on your character choice, route choice and event performance.

Item Amount received

Aside from the above items, you could also receive a Tome of learning, a book, when read that will grant Experience in the related skill.

Tome Experience

Happy Trekking!
