Transportation - By Water

September 13th, 2006 by Eva

You can travel to a variety of cities, for a small fee, by sailing by sea. Below are some maps, detailing the various docks that are located around the world of RuneScape.

Port Sarim and Karamja

Talk to either Seaman Lorris, Seaman Thresnor, or Captain Tobias. They will take you to the North East Karamja dock for 30 gold pieces.

You can travel back to the port for the same fee by talking to a Customs Agent. Make sure that you’re not carrying any Karamja Rum when they search you!

Port Sarim and Entrana - (Members Only)

You need to speak to one of the Monks of Entrana on the dock of Port Sarim, in order to travel to Entrana and back.

This service is free of charge. However, you must not have any weapons or armour with you, either equipped or in your inventory.

Ardougne and Brimhaven - (Members Only)

The dock in Ardougne is situated south of the marketplace. You can sail from here to the Northern Brimhaven dock, after speaking to Captain Barnaby and paying the 30 gold piece fee.

You can travel back to the port for the same fee by talking to a Customs Agent. Make sure that you are not carrying any Karamja Rum when they search you!

Shilo Village - (Members Only)

The ‘Lady of the Waves’ is located west of Shilo Village, travelling to Port Khazard and Port Sarim. Tickets can be bought for 25 gold pieces from Seravel, who is situated upstairs of the Fishing Shop in Shilo Village.

Conversely, you can also purchase tickets from Captain Shanks, who can be found on board the ship.

Miscellania and Etceteria - (Members Only)

You may travel to and from Miscellania and Etceteria for free by talking to the Sailor on the dock in Rellekka.

You must have completed the Fremennik Trials quest if you want to use this service.

Waterbirth Island and Relleka - (Members Only)

Waterbirth Island is only accessible by boat. To get there you will need to speak to Jarvald on the far West dock in Rellekka.

You will need to talk to him again on Waterbirth Island to return.

Ogre boatride, Karamja to the Feldip Hills - (Members Only)

If you have completed the Ogre subquest, you will have access to a shortcut from the Feldip hills to Karamja, via a boat powered by Rantz’s children.

To take this journey, you have to pay the ogre fare. This may be ‘glug glug herbsies’ (herbs such as rogues purse and others you can find on Karamja), or chompy birds, so be prepared to collect these items if you wish to take the trip.

Charter Ships (Members Only)

Members may notice that some of the docks have been extended, with new piers being added. Here you will find the charter ships docked, waiting to take you to a variety of locations around RuneScape. Not only does this save your walking time, but the charter staff will also sell you a variety of items from the lands to which they sail.

To sail to Port Phasmatys, you must have completed Ghosts Ahoy!
To sail to Port Tyras, you must have completed Regicide
To sail to Mos Le Harmless, you must have completed Cabin Fever

For those who have completed Cabin Fever, the staff assume you know your way around a ship, so the price displayed below will be halved. Also, the Ring of Charos (activated) has the power to lower the cost. If you have both of these, the cost below is greatly reduced.

The ships sail to the locations shown on the map below. Obviously, the location you are at will not be displayed on this map. Some locations are unavailable from certain ports; for example, you cannot use a charter to sail from Port Phasmatys to Mos Le’ Harmless - Bill Teach’s ship is docked in Port Phastmatys, and he will take you for free.

* These costs are already halved as they already require you to have completed Cabin Fever.

Canoes (Members Only)

There are four new transport sites along the Lum river that will allow you to make a canoe and travel the river. Just locate a canoe tree on the Lum river and chop it down with your axe.

Once the tree has been chopped down you can make your canoe. With a high woodcutting level you can make better canoes and travel further on the river. If you are able to make a Waka canoe, you will be able to travel into level 35 Wilderness.

Please note: This journey into the Wilderness is ONE WAY, so ensure you mean to travel there before you start paddling!

A similar table to the one below can be opened in the game by clicking the woodcutting skill icon in the stats menu.
